“Good Posture leads to Joint Health”
The first class is how joint health is directly affected by good posture. When muscles are tighter on one side of a joint than the other, they create pressure inside the joint. The bursa and the joint capsule can get worn down, and tendonitis can easily occur. Poor posture can cause this joint imbalance, and emotional stress can often cause poor posture. Erin will point out the elements of good posture, how to create it in yourself, and some exercises and stretches each person can take home that day to work on.
** This class is the initial lecture. It can be followed up with a series of classes, one for each major joint in the body: neck, shoulders, elbows/forearms/wrists, low back, hips, knees, ankles.

“Posture Analysis and Movement Analysis”
One or two people in the class will have an opportunity to have their posture and patterns of movement evaluated to determine which muscles are tight, which muscles are weak, and which muscles we can predict will be injured next. Class members who are not able to be evaluated in class will learn to apply what they’ve learned to their own bodies and will still have time to ask questions in class about themselves.

“Nutrition and Lifestyle Analysis”
Achieving balance in life can be surprisingly complicated. However when given clear, concise guidelines, your efforts can be directed efficiently. Instructions in 7 categories will be given to accelerate your progress toward optimal health. The categories are: parasites, the Metabolic Typing Diet, organic/locally grown foods, water intake, stress analysis (work, relationship, environment), sleep analysis, spiritual dimension, and exercise/stretching.

“Intro to Cubicle Fitness”
What could be worse than a primarily sedentary leisure life and lots of carbs / sugar in our diets? Sitting at a computer all day to work! Yes, even if your office is ergonomically designed, shockingly enough, the human body was not designed to sit down most of the day.
Sitting over-lengthens and squishes blood out of the largest muscles in your body, your gluteus maximus (your bottom). It also shortens the front of your thighs and your hips, contributing to the uncomfortable over-arch in your low back. Focusing on a computer, while not constantly aware of your posture, overuses the front of your neck and curls your shoulders forward, and stretches out the back of your neck, shoulders and upper back until they ache. But you know all that already, right?
10 simple stretches and exercises should be done daily to counteract the evil that is sitting, to energize you throughout your day, to stimulate blood flow to your body AND to your mind, and to allow you to be more productive AND creative. THAT sounds better than sitting for 4 hours at a time, doesn’t it?

“Ground Your Greatest Gifts in Your Body”
We will start with some brief exploratory writing, for you to clearly define what gifts you bring the world, what you value most, what you most deeply desire to give to those you love. Then you will learn a specific series of exercises, like a moving meditation (but a bit more vigorous :-), to anchor these values in your body. When you rejoin your day, you will be amazed at the way you REMEMBER to embody your highest self.
